As we wind down this exciting and fast-paced year of 2008 — we welcome you to join us
for a special Thanksgiving edition of Emme’s Island Moments, “A Moment of Thanks.”
Our third installment of Emme’s Island Moments celebrates all the many things
for which we can be thankful.

This Thanksgiving Special features:

Emme’s trip to the Philippines, as a guest of Hawaiian Airlines on their Inaugural Flight to Manila, bridges the story of ties that bind Hawaii and the Philippines. In April, a group from the Hawaii Filipino Community helped launch the first flight from Honolulu to Manila International Airport. Travel with Emme as she takes in the sights, seeing the new Mega Shopping Centers and “modern” Manila.

•A visit with Sharon Cuneta — the “Oprah Winfrey” of the Philippines. Emme talks with Sharon and follows her behind-the-scenes as she tapes her show in Hawaii featuring successful, Filipino islanders of interest. Emme was among those interviewed by Sharon, sharing similar experiences of her life and story in television. Philippine Mega Superstar Sharon Cuneta started in the music industry at the age of 12. Her career has evolved as a popular Filipina actress and TV host of her own musical- variety show, “The Sharon Cuneta Show”.

•Island Broadway Star, Loretta Ables Sayre introduces us to her life and work in New York and the production of “South Pacific.” From Hawaii’s Diamond Head Theatre to opening at the Lincoln Center Theater in New York, a Tony nominee, Ables Sayre has embraced the opportunities to sing and act and make Hawaii proud. Catch her spectacular Broadway performance in her role as “Bloody Mary.”

•We pay a most deserving tribute to Na Hoku Hanohano Lifetime Achievement
Award winner, Hawaii’s legendary jazz vocalist, Jimmy Borges. Over the years
he made jazz music a popular entertainment option, performing on the Waikiki strip at places like, Keoni’s, Trappers and various hotel lounges. Hollywood celebrities like Tony Bennett, Lou Rawls, Al Jarreau would take the stage with Borges. And Waikiki’s best would drop by to sing in Borges’ lounge. It was the place to be in Waikiki.

•Special guest appearance by Chef Alan Takasaki of Le Bistro with Thanksgiving meal tips on preparing appetizing leftovers.

Collectively, all our guests share their life’s accomplishments and their appreciation for the successes they have achieved in their chosen fields.
