This week on “Emme’s Classic Island Moments” we revisit the guests of “Entertainment Local Style”, which aired back in 1997. We take a look back at our favorite moments with Hollywood film producer Chris Lee, and update interviews with promoter Tom Moffat and island entertainer Nohelani Cypriano.
We explore the life of local boy Hollywood producer Chris Lee who at the time, was President of Tri Star Columbia Pictures. A few of the movie films Lee has brought to the big screen include: Philadelphia, Jerry McGuire, Legends of the Fall and Godzilla. In 2008, Lee produced the Tom Cruise film Valkyrie, and today is the founder and director of the Academy for Creative Media at the University of Hawaii.
Also featured in this show is promoter and entrepreneur Tom Moffat of Tom Moffat Productions. He has produced and promoted hundreds of concerts in Hawaii, bringing to the islands super stars such as the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, the Rolling Stones, Gwen Stefani, Bette Midler, Bon Jovi and most recently the legendary Sir Elton John. Coming up is a concert event with Julio Iglesias at the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010. Emme catches up with Tom and talks about his decades of show promotions.
And long before American idol we had a talent contest called “HOMEGROWN.” One of its winners was island singer Nohelani Cypriano. On this episode, Nohelani shares her relationship with her mother, long time musical artist Leinaala Simerson, and the musical project Cypriano finally completed after her mother passed away back in 2000.
Nohelani Cypriano, currently appearing in select engagements at the Hale Koa Hotel in Waikiki said, “Emme's interviews and features with my mom and me over the years are true treasures for our family and for the islands. It's one of the important ways mom's legacy is preserved for future generations!”
Reminisce with Emme as Chris, Tom and Nohe share their personal, favorite classic island moments with her.
